How Elo Works
Placement Games
Everyone starts with 3 placement games. During placement, your Elo changes more dramatically (K-factor of 80 vs 50 for ranked). After 3 games, you receive your initial rank.
Fair Matchmaking
The Elo formula ensures fair results. Beat a player rated higher than you? Big Elo gain. Lose to someone much lower? Bigger Elo loss. The expected score formula:
Leaving a ranked match results in a temporary ban: 10 minutes for the first leave of the day, 60 minutes for additional leaves. Elo loss only applies if you placed 3+ cards before leaving.
Tips for Climbing
Know your cards – Learn which characters are strong in which positions
Draft strategically – Don't just pick the strongest card; pick what fits your remaining positions
Use passes wisely – Sometimes passing on a mediocre card is better than misplacing it
Counter-draft – If you see your opponent needs a Tank, grab a strong Tank card before they can
Build your collection – More cards mean more options in every draft
